Global access to the Internet has seen the video clip become very popular to inform people of services, corporate marketing, and music, videos and short films. Many video clips are taken from media sources and used for the current social media platforms such as Facebook, Twitter, Tumblr and vlogs with is video blogging.
One of the major beneficiaries of the video clip this century has been YouTube, Yahoo, and Google, which grew from over 30 Million users to over 100 million users in the space of 10 years. The largest reported growth and revenue ever to be generated from an online source of promotion within the music, film, corporate and individual money making service of the use of a short home made video-clip.
We now refer to this as “Clip culture’ with the aid of many new distribution channels to launching short movies of less than 15 minutes. The current trend is to produce clips with webcams, digital cameras and now mobile phones; this fast-growing industry is out of control, causing many distressing moments if one is recorded by a stranger or political group with harrowing images and effects on the world. 90% of the videos found on the Internet and through various platforms are created by amateurs.
The video clip has now become a source of research for employers, actors, companies and individuals wanting to know the current reported news on many famous people. Over 80% of the video-clips and information now on the Internet, has been edited, re-shoot and not truth to the actual event or person. Many laws are now being put in place to remove unwanted video-clips as an act of protecting an individual and their legal rights to be protected against defamation of character and licencing of one’s work.
