When Enya was younger, she played in the band Clannad with her siblings. She eventually left the band to pursue her solo career and signed with Warner Music UK in 1987. Her first album, Enya, emerged later that year, featuring hits like Boadicea and I Want Tomorrow.

Enya's ethereal and atmospheric sound soon gained popularity, primarily in the United States and European markets. Soon, her second album, Watermark (1988), made it possible for her to make a distinctive sound that resulted from her extensive use of the keyboard and synthesizers in recording.
