Attack Attack! – A Critic's Perspective

Ah, Attack Attack! The energetic and melodic musical group that has taken the hard-core rock world by storm. If there's one thing they know how to do, its make a mediocre song sound amazing and apparently it appeals to listeners everywhere. However, as much as I love their music, I've got some harsh criticism for them – let me lay it on you in hopes of inspiring change!

Ah, Attack Attack! – the band that's been dishing out catchy and high-energy hard-core rock for over a decade now. With their signature electronic influences, they've managed to create a sound that's hard not to like – something made evident by their ever-growing fan base. I'm one of those fans who's always enjoyed their music, but as someone who deeply understands music-making, I also have some severe criticism for Attack Attack!. In this blog, I'm going to share my perspective on the band's sound and what they could do to improve upon it.

First of all, let's talk about their lyrics. While they're filled with passion and emotion, they're often cliché and don't really say anything new. Sure, the songs sound great, and the instrumentals are tight, but why not put some more effort into writing some original and meaningful lyrics? Or even have the lyrics carry some depth behind the surface-level meaning? When they master this form of songwriting, they'll be able to take their music to the next level.

Another issue I've had with Attack Attack! is their repetitive sound. While their self-titled album was groundbreaking when it was released in 2010, every follow-up album was more or less the same. It's as if they're trying to stick to a formula, which, quite frankly, has become stale. Sure, you could argue that the band has its sound, just like every other band. But where's the harm in being creative? Why not take a risk and experiment with sound and style? I believe that the band has the potential to surprise everyone with something richer and more ambitious.

I also feel like the band leans too heavily on their electronic sounds at times. Yes, the synthesized sound has been a staple of their music since they started, but it's a double-edged sword. Sometimes it adds depth and texture to the music, while at other times, it feels like they're doing it just because they can. It would be great to see the band scale back on the electronic sounds, let their guitar riffs shine on their own, and create a more organic sound.

Lastly, the group could benefit from more musicianship. Their music relies heavily on basic chord progressions and simple punk-style drum beats. I would like to see the band members take their musical knowledge up a notch and enhance their instrumentation. When they start dabbling with more complex melodies and asymmetric time signatures, the band's music will take on a whole new dimension.

In summary, Attack Attack! certainly has a solid fan base, but it's time for them to re-evaluate their musical endeavors. They need to put in more effort to write meaningful lyrics, explore and experiment with their sound, let their guitar riffs breathe, and enhance their musicianship. Sure, it's harder to break the mold and push yourself out of your comfort zone – but that's what true musicians do. So, I urge Attack Attack! to be bold, take risks, and make great music that will stand the test of time.
