The Wallflowers formed in 1989, in Los Angeles, California. Lead singer Jakob Dylan, son of legendary musician Bob Dylan, formed the band alongside guitarist Tobi Miller and bassist Barrie Maguire. They played small venues around the city and their self-titled debut album was released in 1992 with little fanfare. Despite this, their unique sound and raw energy caught the attention of major labels and soon they were signed to Interscope Records.

Their second album, Bringing Down the Horse, released in 1996, brought the band to mainstream success and featured hits like One Headlight and 6th Avenue Heartache. The album went on to sell 4 million copies and the band was nominated for six Grammy Awards and won two.

Over the years, The Wallflowers have experienced various personnel changes with Jakob Dylan taking sole control of songwriting and producing duties. This led to a change in sound and style with their later albums focusing more on country and folk influences, such as their 2012 album Glad All Over.

Despite criticism from some fans for the changes in sound, The Wallflowers have remained a staple in the music industry for almost three decades. They have released a total of six albums, sold over 10 million copies worldwide, and have toured with acts such as Counting Crows and Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers.
