BERLIN MUSIC VIDEO AWARDS 2020 ALSO REWARDS ITALY
Piero Pirupa, an Italian Dj/Producer of Techno-House, honours the “Bel Paese” by winning the 1st position in the video category “Most Bizzare”. Every year a mix of international artists come together in Berlin to attend the awards ceremony of the “Best Video Of The Year”.
The 8th edition of Berlin Music Video Awards closed on May 31st with the announcement of the winners in various categories. Originality and enthusiasm were not lacking even "under Coronavirus blackmail". The edition this year, was in Broadcast-mode as replacement of the traditional festival that normally lasted four days, during which time the visitors are entertained with various programs including workshops, shows, live music, coupled with prominent international guests, and of course, after-parties. This year talent was definitely “on-air”. Whimsical videos, sometimes excessive, but all linked to a basic moral concept aimed at brazenly tackling "uncomfortable" themes for gradually dismantling prejudices and social schemes that persevere over time. The collateral effects of oppression and abuse can easily be detected in Horse and Braindead (Heroin Kills) videos.
Horse, produced by the Bosnian-born Swede Dj Salvatore Ganacci, obtains the podium twice in the categories Best Music Video of the Year and Best Concept. Big applause for the undisputed creativity mixed with a subtle Balck Humor that seems to let us wonder: "who is more animal than who?!?”
Braindead (Heroin Kills), produced by the Italian DJ Piero Pirupa, wins the first place as Most Bizzare Video . Tragicomic images describe drugs abuse on the rhythm of Techno-House, becoming immediately a pleasant Earworm. Congratulations to Dj Pirupa who adds a new prize to the many hits collected in his years of career.
"Everyone deserves the opportunity to emerge and spread their artistic talents."
With this concept, in 2013, Aviel Silook founded Berlin Music Video Awards. He realized how paradoxically, an event welding was missing: music, images and art. An independent festival (with no government support), was born from a brilliant mind, driven by passion and a strong desire to promote diversity.
Over the years, BMVA became more and more a meeting and a confrontation point for all those involved in the art sector in general. It is not only a competition involving established and new artists but also a real opportunity for international networking , a fertile ground to start new collaborations, projects and expand the existing contacts in an open-minded context.
Come and submit your application for the next edition. It's so easy! Submissions for 2021 are already open and can be made directly from the BMVA site

Good Luck!
